Maths in Action

First we learnt about Place Value. Where the number sits tells us how much it is . 

The 2 in 12 means 2 but the 2 in 27 means 20 ( 2 groups of 10 ).

Next we put numbers into houses and showed.our number with rods,

Room One Children worked with a Class Buddy, the Diamonds showed the Squares a game Mrs Smith showed them! It's called 'Rocket'. If you've got dice at home you can play this too, it's great to practise Place Value and ordering numbers. You need two dice to play numbers below 100 and three dice to do numbers below 1000.
